What Just Happened is a program designed to showcase recent events impacting the Tulsa community, with an emphasis on creating of a historical record for posterity and the benefit of future generations. June 19-20, 2020, was a time of unparalleled focus on Tulsa, the 1921 Race Massacre/Riot, Juneteenth, the visit of President Trump and the Black Lives Matter Movement.
Facilitated by Alicia M. H. Latimer, African-American Resource Center coordinator, Tulsa City-County Library, panelists include Vanessa Hall Harper, City of Tulsa District 1 representative; Phil Armstrong, 1921 Centennial Commission; Dr. Dewayne Dickens and Dr. Pauline Harris, John Hope Franklin Center; Michelle Place, Tulsa Historical Society; and Mechelle Brown, Greenwood Cultural Center. These representatives from various community organizations will provide insights and resource information designed to document Tulsa's recent historic moments in time.
