Join the African-American Resource Center on the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as we remember and salute Dr. King for his work on behalf of social justice.
Eunice Tarver, provost, Tulsa Community College Northeast Campus, will emcee this brown-bag lunch event, which will include readings by Tulsa District 1 City Councilor Vanessa Hall-Harper; Margaret Love and Burlinda Radney of the Greater Tulsa Area African-American Affairs Commission; Dr. Dewayne Dickens, professor, Tulsa Community College; and Maybelle Wallace, executive director, Theatre North. Chief Egunwale Amusan will share King's biography. King's speech "Remaining Awake Through a Great Revolution" will be read in its entirety. Also, three community leaders will give brief speeches on the following topics: "Education," presented by Darryl Bright, Citizens United for a Better Education System (CUBES); "The Church," presented by the Rev. Weldon Tisdale, Friendship Baptist Church; and "Social Justice," presented by Reuben Gant , John Hope Franklin Center. Location: Library Hall
