Learn at the Library: Sewing Machine Basics

A Series for Homeschooled and Virtual Students

Come and learn sewing machine basics on one of the library's Singer 4452 Heavy Duty sewing machines. Registration is required. For teens and tweens.

Join us for a hands-on introduction to sewing machine basics. We will learn how to cut fabric, arrange it for assembly and stitch it together using a Singer 4452 Heavy Duty sewing machine. We will create a fun and practical project – a personalized pillowcase.

Participants are welcome to bring their own fabric or use the provided materials. This event is perfect for students who are interested in developing new skills and exploring their creativity.

During the session, we will familiarize ourselves with the various sewing machine components and their functions. Participants also will receive step-by-step guidance on how to operate the machine effectively.

Features of the Singer 4452 include:

  • 32 built-in stitches (6 Basic Stitches, 7 Stretch Stitches, 18 Decorative Stitches, 1 Buttonhole)
  • Auto needle threader
  • Top drop-in bobbin
  • Foot pedal
  • Auto reverse
  • Adjustable stitch length

Are you interested in learning about our sewing machines outside of this program? No problem! TCCL sewing machines are available for use at the Central Library in the Renee Neuwald Trust Maker Space
