Come visit the literacy office and learn more about our adult literacy program. Meet our staff along with current adult learners and tutors to see if the program might be a good fit for you.
Did you know TCCL has offered support to adult literacy learners since 1977? It's true! The Ruth G. Hardman Adult Literacy Service matches volunteers from the community with adult learners across Tulsa County to provide one-on-one literacy support. We provide free trainings and offer ongoing support to our tutors and learners for the duration of their involvement in the program. Our program is in high demand and we frequently have a wait list of learners waiting to be matched with tutors. We also have plenty of non-tutoring volunteer opportunities!
This open house is for anyone interested in learning more about this volunteer-driven, community-based program. Whether you're interested in volunteering or in becoming an adult learner, we would love to tell you more about what we do and how you can get involved! We work with adults and young adults age 16+ who want to improve their literacy skills; this includes both native English speakers who may need support with reading and writing as well as English language learners who need support in learning a new language.
We hope you'll join us at Literacy, Outreach and Volunteer Services, 2901 S. Harvard Ave., and get connected to your community. Learn more about the literacy program by visiting our website at www.tulsalibrary.org/literacy, or email literacy@tulsalibrary.org for more information.
