Discover your roots with Ancestry Library Edition. Learn genealogy basics and get practical tips for your family history research. Registration is required. For adults and teens.

Curious about your family history but don’t know where to start? This free, beginner-friendly workshop introduces you to the fundamentals of genealogy research and demonstrates how to use Ancestry Library Edition, one of the world’s largest collections of genealogical records available free at all TCCL branches.

Genealogy Associate James Toburen will guide you through:

  • A short overview of genealogy basics and where to begin;
  • A live demo of Ancestry Library Edition, including census, military and immigration records;
  • Tips for searching effectively, using filters and exploring the card catalog;
  • Local research examples, including Oklahoma and Five Tribes connections.

You’ll also learn about resources and services offered through TCCL’s Genealogy Resource Center, and attendees will receive a take-home handout of key tips. A Q&A will be held at the end.
