Storytime RoomMix your own paint and create art like ancient cave painters. For teens and tweens.
Step back in time and paint like ancient peoples!
In this hands-on workshop, we will mix our own paint using natural ingredients and discover what makes paint … paint. We’ll break down the three essential components — pigment, binder and vehicle — and explore how ancient artists created images that have lasted for thousands of years.
We’ll take a look at prehistoric cave paintings, talk about their distinctive style, and learn why some of these artworks have survived for so long. Then it will be your turn! Try your hand at cave-painting techniques or create your own original masterpiece using your handmade paints.
Get ready to dig into history, science and art — all in one creative afternoon.
