Using printed material and a black marker, black out words to make a poem. Prizes will be awarded. Deadline to enter is Oct. 31. For ages 10-18.

Blackout Poetry! What is it? It is where you take a page from a book, magazine or even a newspaper and find words that are relevant to you, and then black out all the others. Your goal is to have a poem. You'll use a marker to black out the surrounding words and leave the words you have chosen. You can use a book, magazine or newspaper that you have at home, or if you don't want to mark up your own book, we can send you a page or two from one of our books. After you have finished your poem, snap a picture of it and the book it came from, and then email it to gp@tulsalibrary.org. We'd love to share them on our Facebook page too. First prize is a $20 gift card to Magic City Books, second prize is a $10 gift card to Magic City Books, plus we also will have some books to give away. For more info about Blackout Poetry, visit:
