Kwanzaa Art Workshop: The Promised Land
Wednesday, December 13
6:00pm - 8:30pm
Rudisill Regional Library
Library HallIn celebration of Kwanzaa, participants will draw or collage their vision of freedom and use visual media to represent the hopes, dreams and visions of our future while remembering the past.
In this workshop, we will use art to tell our stories about Black and Indigenous self-determination. Centering on the seven principles of Kwanzaa: Umoja (unity), Kujichagulia (self-determination), Ujima (collective work and responsibility), Ujamaa (cooperative economics), Nia (purpose), Kuumba (creativity) and Imani (faith), we will exchange ideas and traditions around how shapes, colors and symbols make meaning and communicate our ideas and values visually.
